As the Countdown to Christmas begins, we wanted to share 7 different Festive themes that we have created in-store to help inspire your own look this year.

One of the simplest ways to select your Christmas theme is to choose a colour scheme to use as the basis for your decorations, gift wrapping & table settings. You may like to align your Christmas theme with your current Decor Style for a more subtle, calming atmosphere.

Once you’ve chosen your colour palette and theme, try to repeat the look throughout your home. Starting at the entrance to your home with a festive wreath, festive decorations and scented candle on your entrance console, embellished fairy-lit garlands framing your mantel piece linking through to your Festive Table setting. Even your alfresco areas can continue your chosen theme.

Christmas Themes: Coastal Christmas

The coastal-style theme is natural & textural.
The colour palette features layers of white and muted neutral tones, complimented by bleached & natural timbers, cotton & driftwood.

Ornaments include collected elements such as starfish, driftwood garlands, corals, and Christmas trees made from seashells & pastel milk glass baubles in soft blues, sea-foam greens, silver, whites & pewter. Select wreaths of rope, shell, and hydrangea & sprays of faux magnolia and poinsettia flowers for elegance.

Christmas Themes: Traditional Style

The traditional style Christmas theme is plentiful & sumptuous, bringing play and joy to the young and young at heart!
The colour palette features a combination of forest greens, muted reds, white & rustic zinc.

Ornaments feature traditional festive collectable characters such as Santa, Mrs. Klaus, reindeer & and Nutcracker tin solider's. Baubles, garlands, & mini characters in traditional patterns are highlighted by the sparkle of fairy lights and a festive plaid or bejeweled tree topper.

Christmas Themes: Nordic Style

The Nordic-style Christmas theme is natural, textural, minimal, and uncluttered, and this translates throughout the whole home. The colour palette includes layers of white and neutral tones such as dove greys, warm taupes & subtle hints of gold and silver lustre.

Ornaments reflect a love of nature with acorns, snowy garlands, birds, rocking horses, ferns & whimsical elements such as angel wings. Hand-embellished baubles add subtle lustre and fine fairy lights threaded through the tree, and garland add gentle illumination.

Christmas Themes: Blue and White

The blue & white style Christmas theme is elegant, energising, and welcoming, particularly in warmer climates where Christmas is celebrated in the heart of Summer.

The colour palette includes silver, blue & white, with natural elements of rattan and fresh greenery.

Festive decor includes preserved deep green boxwood wreaths & garlands, blue, white & silver glittery baubles, and mini ginger jars, glittering faux flowers & mini pine trees. Rich rattan accessories ground the look. This festive style seamlessly incorporates into a Hamptons-style home.

Christmas Themes: Rustic Style

The rustic style Christmas theme is relaxed and streamlined, bringing the raw and textural indoors.

The colour palette features a base of neutrals, including white, beige, warm greys, ochre, tan and brown, with metallic bronze & copper accents.

Ornaments focus on natural materials such as wreaths of pine & eucalyptus, hessian & jute Christmas stockings and sacks, cotton tassels, decorative leaves, acorns, mushrooms, and animals, including birds, horses & deer. Garlands of bunting and festoon lighting add ambience.

Christmas Themes: Glam and Whimsical

The glam-style Christmas theme is intentional & luxe.

The colour palette features can be monochromatic with gold & silver lustre, favouring off-whites, black, and muted pastels of blue, green, and pink.

Ornaments feature a melody of golden glitter beaded chandeliers, pearl garlands, baubles & tassels in muted and metallic pastels. Animal prints can feature on baubles and finials, and the garlands & wreaths feature metal, crystal, pearls, and LED lights.

Christmas Themes: Oriential Style

Oriental style is rich in drama and contrast.

The oriental style colour palette features vibrant, bold hues of red and black, in contrast with subtle blue & whites and lush greenery. Interweave gold and silver accents and ground the look with earthy browns, reflected in natural woods & rattan elements.

Ornaments include origami-style paper decorations, miniature lanterns, faux branches, and blossom stems, birds, beaded baubles, calligraphy brushes, engraved glassware, ginger jars, porcelain figurines, and potted orchids.

BONUS TIPS: The 5 L's of Styling

To achieve balance and a look that is uniquely yours, consider the 5 L’s of styling (Something loved, lustre, living, lighting & layering) to ensure the overall look is harmonious and brings a sense of joy to your home. It is a wonderful way to lift the spirits and show how much you care by creating a magical feeling of welcome to family and friends.

Something Loved

A favourite tree topper, wreath, Christmas character, or handmade or sentimental ornaments.

Something with Lustre

Glittered baubles, fauna or floral accents, mirrored or mercury glass finials and trays, or frosted garlands.

Something Living

A fresh-cut pine tree, an oversized vase filled with holly branches or fresh magnolia, a eucalyptus leaf wreath and vases of fresh gardenias or potted poinsettias.

Lighting

Fairy lights, Candle tree lights, led light garlands that can be woven through foliage and garlands, and layers of pillar, floating & votive t-light candles create a magical ambiance.

Layering

Consider layering to achieve scale and movement of your selected garlands, finials, candlesticks, glassware and characters. The different heights add visual balance and interest.

Play with the layering of opposing materials & textures to contrast and surprise, such as naturally bleached driftwood, jute, clay & rattan pieces interwoven with crystal, mirrored, glittery and metallic finishes.
